Deputy Speaker of the Parliament of Montenegro Zdenka Popović (Democratic Montenegro) announced today that MPs and the leader of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS), Danijel Živković, think that everyone is acting on someone's orders and persuasions.
Vijesti reported today that Popović filed a police report against Živković last night, claiming that, after the end of yesterday's parliamentary session, he threatened her in the plenary hall that she would "have a huge problem" because she did not allow him to comment on a speech by an MP.
In a statement to the police, Živković said that yesterday's communication between him and Popović was "everyday", stating that he believed that the Deputy Speaker of the Parliament filed the report "at the instigation" of the MP and her party colleague Boris Bogdanović.
Popović stated in today's statement that "if Živković were telling the truth, there would be no reason for parliamentary security to enter the hall to protect me from MP Živković."
"All colleagues who were present in the hall at that moment, except for the DPS representative, can confirm that MP Danijel Živković made threats to me, in a threatening and raised tone, which were uttered several times. This is not the first time. This is the second threat coming from the DPS MPs' Club addressed to me personally," Popović pointed out.
She added that she made the decision to report the case personally and independently.
"MP Bogdanović, who was neither in the hall nor in Podgorica at that moment, was informed of the report only after it was formally filed. MP Živković, based on himself, thinks that everyone is acting on someone's orders and persuasions, which, in addition to threats, is also a kind of insult to an elderly woman, because according to Živković, I am obviously not capable of reasoning and making decisions on my own," said Popović.
She said that "attempts to change theses, threats and spreading falsehoods by Mr. Živković are not surprising; we are used to that from the DPS."
"But unlike them, I do not pursue a policy of threats and primitive communication. And that is precisely why we will shed light on everything in the institutional process that follows. Without fear, without calculations and without the need to justify myself to anyone, except the law," said Popović.
