The newly built Temple of Saint Sava was solemnly consecrated today in the village of Dapsiće near Berane, and for their selfless support for the construction of the temple, Metropolitan of Budimlje-Niksić of the Serbian Orthodox Church (SPC) Metodije decorated Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić and awarded letters of appreciation to officials of the Socialist People's Party Vladimir Joković and Krsto Radjenović, as well as New Serbian Democracy (NSD) Marko Kovačević and Dario Vraneš, announced the parties.
On behalf of the Serbian president, the award was received by his special envoy Miloš Vučević, according to a statement from the NSD.
He said that the Vučić family is one of the largest founders of this temple.
"I am happy that many of our compatriots have gathered here because, regardless of territories, borders and laws, we are one people of the same language and culture connected by the St. Sava path. My heart is full because the temple is dedicated to St. Sava, and not so long ago someone tried to banish St. Sava from here and ban him. It is as if you want to ban and expel the people, to tear out their soul. St. Sava is our path! Whenever we strayed from the path of St. Sava, we made cardinal state and national mistakes. Whenever we were on the path of St. Sava - we were on the right path! Long live our people, long live Berane!", Vučević wrote on the social network Iks.
As stated in the SNP statement, the event was organized by the Metropolitanate of Budimlje-Niksic in cooperation with the Committee for the Construction of the Temple of Saint Sava.
The ceremony was attended by numerous guests from political, church and public life.
