Deputy President of the Parliament of Montenegro and official of the Europe Now Movement (PES), Boris Pejović, said that he supports the proposal of the National Security Council to urgently implement a vetting in the judiciary, in cooperation with the European Commission.

"I believe it is high time that the judiciary is freed from those whose decisions undermine the rule of law system. The connection between the increase in serious crimes and the increasing number of people being released from custody for those responsible for or connected to those crimes can no longer be ignored," Pejović said.

The adoption of the Law on the Confiscation of Criminal Assets, he added, is one of the key steps in the fight against the mafia.

"Determination and political will are needed – everything else is a matter of operational implementation. It is time for a judiciary that protects citizens, not criminals. It is time for concrete results," said Pejović.
