Božović: Another goal of our policy fulfilled, a common date for local elections brings concrete benefits to all citizens

The Socialist People's Party of Montenegro welcomes the decision to hold all local elections in Montenegro on one day, on 13 June 2027, as it is another important step towards strengthening political stability and the functionality of the electoral process. This was one of our key program guidelines and a multi-year initiative that we have consistently advocated for, and today we can say that another goal of our policy has been fulfilled.

This was announced by SNP MP Bogdan Božović after the Committee for Comprehensive Electoral Reform gave the green light to hold general local elections on June 13, 2027, at today's meeting.

"A common date for local elections contributes to cost rationalization, higher citizen turnout, better control of the electoral process, and a reduction in political tensions that are often fueled by partial, drawn-out election cycles," Božović explained.

He added that this change is not only a technical one, but also a fundamental democratic improvement, which brings concrete benefits to all citizens.

"After two major points from our political program were realized in the previous period - the implementation of the population census and the signing of the Fundamental Agreement with the Serbian Orthodox Church - this decision represents the third important success that confirms our commitment to the promises made.

"The citizens of Montenegro can be sure that the SNP remains consistent with its principles and promises. We do not change our positions for the sake of political points, but rather we work persistently to achieve what we have committed ourselves to before our people," Božović said in a statement to the media.
