Deputy Prime Minister for Security, Defense, Fight against Crime and Internal Policy Aleksa Bečić congratulated citizens on the fact that the unified general local elections, as he announced, will be held together with the regular parliamentary elections on June 13, 2027.
He said that Montenegro would "be deprived of electoral processes, campaigns and constant political instability" for two years.
"We are directing all the capacities of society towards further dynamizing the European path, the fight against crime, vetting and economic development. One-day elections prevent electoral tourism, bring rationalization in many fields and ensure political stability. I am proud that the idea I presented several years ago has finally been realized and that the decision in Parliament was made unanimously by a historic majority. Congratulations to the MPs on their responsible approach, and gratitude to the EU Ambassador Mr. Satler, who made a great contribution in the previous weeks and months to achieving another great historical achievement. We continue forward in partnership, dynamically and decisively. Montenegro in 2028 as the 28th member of the EU is our common goal," Bečić announced.
