The head of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS), Danijel Živković, said at a press conference that it was not easy to follow everything that happened during the plenary sessions and parliamentary committees in recent days in parliament.
"You have had the opportunity in recent days to see, especially in these last weeks and days of July, a large number of initiatives proposed by representatives of the parliamentary majority, who certainly tried in a peculiar way to push through some of their personal, particular or party interests," he said.
He said that it all ended in a "serious debacle", thanks to the DPS and the rest of the opposition.
"You saw that the parliamentary majority was completely destroyed by the Democratic Party of Socialists. So, thanks to the dedicated efforts of the opposition in the Montenegrin parliament, important systemic laws were not adopted during today's session," Živković said.
He noted that the draft laws on public procurement, amnesty, the National Security Agency, the internal affairs law, and the corporate income tax law were not adopted, stating that they had promised this to the citizens.
In addition, Živković added, members of the Central Bank Council, nor of the Council of the Agency for Electronic Media, have not been elected.
"All of this tells you how the parliamentary majority and the executive branch are disintegrating. In a serious political system, this government would resign tomorrow and we would go to early parliamentary elections, because this level of frivolity and irresponsibility, which has been chronically long and marked primarily by the actions of the parliamentary majority, can only end with elections. We must get a new parliamentary majority that will lead Montenegro on the path of European integration and prosperity," said the leader of the strongest opposition party.
Humiliation due to functions
He stated that representatives of the parliamentary majority are not ready to draw the line of responsibility, but rather endure humiliation because of their positions.
"You have had the opportunity to see, for the umpteenth time and during today's session, the questioning and 're-education' of the MPs of the Europe Now Movement (PES) by the President of the Parliament, Andrija Mandić. The amount of humiliation that the MPs of the PES are suffering, at least for us who are here in the Parliament of Montenegro, has not been recorded to this day. When someone tells you that someone's behavior needs to be questioned, and therefore re-educated, that they must behave as the essential leader of the parliamentary majority, Andrija Mandić, says - then it is clear that there is no end to the irresponsible behavior of this parliamentary majority and that it is necessary to stop the disintegration and decline of the state of Montenegro as soon as possible," said Živković.
He said that the parliamentary majority cannot preserve political stability and is leading Montenegro into the abyss. He claims that the same people can only be stopped in the next parliamentary elections.
"And I assure the public... that in the next elections, whenever they are held, we will defeat this parliamentary majority, return political stability, seriousness and responsibility to the political life of Montenegro and, of course, work responsibly to achieve what are the national and vital interests of our community," said Živković.
When asked by Television Vijesti to explain his words from the prime minister's hour, where he told Prime Minister Milojko Spajić that he would have "problems in the functioning of the parliament", Živković responded that the Prime Minister's behavior in the Parliament was inappropriate, ill-mannered and inappropriate in relation to his mandate and position.
He said that Spajić's message was clear:
"'You have extended your hand to us regarding European integration, you have voted for our laws - and I will laugh in your face'. You will not do that to us as the opposition. You can play with your MPs with whom you have no communication - but you will not do that to the opposition," said Živković.
He stated that they promised citizens that they would be with them if the law on public gatherings was adopted, and that they were ready to bear "the burden of responsibility if someone wants to enforce the violation of the provisions of such a law."
"So, let's be completely clear: if that law had been passed, we would have been with the citizens, just as we were in Kuševo and in every other place, ready to bear the burden of those sanctions, not to pay those fines, and let there be protests," said the head of the DPS.
