In just over two years, since the state took over the Kamenari-Lepetane ferry line, state revenue has reached an incredible 20 million euros, announced the leader of the Civic Movement (GP) URA Dritan Abazović.
He added that this means that today "the ferry line brings the state more money, pure profit, than the Electric Power Company of Montenegro (EPCG).
Abazović said that the previous concessionaire paid only 200.000 euros per year, while now the state generates around 7,5 million euros in annual profit.
"In addition, Montenegro owns eight ships today, and before that it had none. It's a really nice feeling when time confirms the correctness of certain decisions, which at one time unnecessarily raised dust in the public," said Abazović, recalling, as he put it, the pressures, threats and attacks that accompanied that decision.
He expressed special gratitude to the then Minister Ana Novaković Đurović, as well as to the heads of the Public Enterprise "Morsko dobro", Blaž Rađenović and Mladen Mikijelj.
"A successful policy is one that creates something from nothing, not nothing from something. Unlike the current government, which started selling off Crnogorska plovidba ships, ours will be remembered for returning property to citizens and the state. The example of the ferry line clearly shows that Montenegro can do it," Abazović concluded.
