Montenegro is today paying the price of improvisation and frivolity in conducting state policy. Instead of clear principles and institutional action, we have Viber diplomacy, 'telephone sessions' and statements that serve more for daily political showdowns than for preserving the country's international reputation, said Mileta Radovanić, Secretary General of the Civic Movement URA.
As he said, diplomacy is serious business.
"It is a bridge between states, not a space for improvisations, party appointments and quick decisions made over the phone. If you destroy that bridge with irresponsible statements and silence when it is time to react, then we lose both regional influence and international trust. For URU, foreign policy is neither a PR tool nor a secondary matter. Through our program Montenegro 365, we have a vision of diplomacy 365 days a year, professional, stable and with integrity, maximally dedicated to the state interest. We advocate for a new Law on Foreign Affairs, which will define clear rules in the diplomatic network, and for ambassadors who represent the state, not the party," said Radovanić.
"Montenegro must have diplomacy with a stance, but also with moderation. Because a state that does not know how to conduct foreign policy does not know how to maintain its place in the region, nor how to build a path towards the European Union," said Radovanić.
