Liješević: The photo of the monument to Pavle Đurišić is not mine, I was tagged by another person and was accidentally shared

The director of the Sports Recreation Center (SRC) in Budva, Ivana Liješević, announced that the photo of the monument to Pavle Đurišić that appeared on her social media profile was not her original content, but was tagged by another person and then carelessly and accidentally shared.

"Vijesti" announced yesterday that the director of the SRC and member of the political group "Budva our city" shared on her Instagram profile a photo of a monument to the Chetnik duke and war criminal Pavle Đurišić, which was discovered yesterday and then removed in Gornji Zaostar near Berane.

The political group "Budva Our City" forms the government in Budva in coalition with the Democratic Party of Socialists and the European Union, which strongly condemned the erection of the monument to Đurišić.

"Regarding a series of untrue allegations and tendentious interpretations regarding the photograph of the monument to Pavle Đurišić that appeared on my social media profile, I am addressing the public for a clear and unambiguous clarification. The photograph in question is not my author's content. It was sent to me by another person, I was tagged in the post, and it was carelessly and accidentally shared without any accompanying comment, statement or text from me. Despite these facts, certain political entities and individuals have consciously taken advantage of this circumstance to manipulate the public, attributing to me views that I have never expressed. I believe that this is a classic example of political abuse and attempts at discrediting," Liješević stated.

She emphasized that as a public official and director of the SRC, she would never put herself, her team, or the political group "Budva Our City" in a position to be used for daily political purposes or to be drawn into activities that cause national tensions.

"Such a practice is contrary to my personal and professional principles, as well as the values of the political entity to which I belong. My position is clear. I am against any revision of history, I am against the awakening of old conflicts because I advocate for a society based on unity, dialogue and respect for diversity. Budva and Montenegro deserve to have energy directed towards development, improving the quality of life of citizens and creating conditions for a better future, and not towards reopening historical divisions," concluded Liješević.
