DPS Herceg Novi: It is shameful and scandalous to glorify the figure and deeds of Chetnik butcher Pavle Đurišić

The glorification of the figure and deeds of the Chetnik butcher Pavle Đurišić at a humanitarian concert organized by the Red Star Fans Foundation from Montenegro with the support of the Metropolitanate of Montenegro and the Littoral is shameful and scandalous, the Municipal Committee of the Democratic Party of Socialists of Herceg Novi announced.

"Attempts to vampirize Chetniks, which are often witnessed in Herceg Novi, are the result of the policies that govern the city and the state, which illegally erected a monument to the most notorious Chetnik commander and fascist in the Berane village of Gornje Zaostro, which inspired an unprecedented lynching - physical and psychological violence by Chetnik thugs to which journalists who came to perform their professional task were exposed," the statement reads.

They add that it is terrible and unacceptable that in Herceg Novi, a city whose very essence is deeply woven with anti-fascism, "empowered by the policies of some in power, they are shamelessly falsifying history - they are identifying executioners with victims, and calling war criminals heroes."

"In the end, local authorities who do not condemn this provocative, match-fixing act, which seeks to cause tensions in our city, will only confirm what the Democratic Party of Socialists has continuously pointed out - that these are representatives of backward, retrograde policies that seek to nullify the Montenegrin anti-fascist heritage and destroy Montenegro's European perspective," the DPS Herceg Novi said.
