President of Montenegro Jakov Milatović received the letters of credence from the newly appointed ambassadors of Belgium, China and Indonesia - Frederik Develter, Shufeng Chen and Andrean Erwin.
In separate conversations with the ambassadors at the residence in Cetinje, Milatović wished them a welcome to Montenegro and a successful completion of their diplomatic mission.
The President's Office announced that during the meeting with the Belgian Ambassador, excellent friendly and allied relations were confirmed. Milatović pointed out the importance of Belgium's continued support for Montenegro's European path. Develter emphasized that Montenegro plays a key role in the region when it comes to European integration and emphasized his country's readiness to assist Montenegro in achieving its goal - EU membership by 2028, the statement said.
Also, mutual interest in intensifying economic cooperation and attracting Belgian investments, as well as cooperation in the fields of information technology, agriculture and tourism, was highlighted.
During the conversation with the Chinese Ambassador, it was emphasized that Montenegro is committed to cooperation with that country. Ambassador Shufeng Chen thanked Montenegro for its support for the one-China principle, but also conveyed his interest in improving bilateral cooperation in the fields of infrastructure, culture and education.
During the meeting with the Indonesian Ambassador, it was emphasized that Montenegro and Indonesia have cherished a long-standing friendship.
Also, the need to intensify political dialogue at the high and highest levels was pointed out, as well as the possibility of improving relations between the two countries in the fields of economy and tourism.
While thanking President Milatović for the reception, the ambassadors said that during their diplomatic mandates they would work dedicatedly to further improve interstate relations.
The President of the country also introduced the ambassadors to the foreign policy priorities based on the aspirations of Montenegro to become the 2028th member of the European Union in 28, to strengthen its credibility as a member of NATO, to further improve good neighborly cooperation, as well as its position in multilateral frameworks.
