The Municipal Board of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) Nikšić announced that it has filed another criminal complaint today against the President of the Municipality of Nikšić, Marko Kovačević, on suspicion that he committed the criminal offense of abuse of official position under Article 416 of the Criminal Code of Montenegro.
"Namely, Marko Kovačević, without previously carrying out the procedure prescribed by the Public Procurement Law and without a signed contract, paid out funds from the Budget for the transport of waste to the Livade landfill for ten months. By doing so, he damaged the Budget of the Municipality of Nikšić by almost 300.000 euros and provided an unlawful material benefit to a legal entity from Nikšić for the same amount," the DPS Nikšić statement states.
They added that with all the evidence they have obtained and submitted to the prosecution, they demand a reaction from the competent authorities, "although they remain deaf to constant calls to start doing their job and investigate the illegal actions of the local administration of Nikšić."
"We ask them to act on this criminal report, and to take out the others from the drawer, which have been waiting for a long time. Bearing in mind that the Mayor of Nikšić is no longer protected by parliamentary immunity and Jelena Nedović, we believe that the postman will be able to find him at the address Njegoševa 18," said the DPS Nikšić.
