Ivanovic - Martin: Ireland strongly supports Montenegro's European path

Deputy Prime Minister for Foreign and European Affairs Filip Ivanović met with Irish Prime Minister Michail Martin in Dublin today.

During the meeting, Ivanovic emphasized the friendly relations between Montenegro and Ireland and their commitment to further developing political dialogue and bilateral cooperation.

As announced by the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister for Foreign and European Affairs, special attention was paid to Montenegro's European perspective and Ireland's active support in the process of accession negotiations with the European Union.

Ivanovic, it is added, informed his interlocutor about Montenegro's progress in the areas of the rule of law, the fight against organized crime and corruption, strengthening the judiciary and the institutional framework. He stressed that European integration remains an absolute foreign policy priority and expressed his belief that Montenegro, upon accession to the EU, will be an active advocate of the enlargement policy.

"Prime Minister Martin confirmed Ireland's continued and strong support for Montenegro's European agenda, praising the progress made in the reform processes. He stressed that Montenegro is already demonstrating the values ​​it brings to the Union and that Ireland, through bilateral and multilateral formats, will continue to provide political and expert support to Montenegro. In this context, Martin recalled the upcoming Irish Presidency of the Council of the European Union in the second half of 2026, emphasizing that the enlargement process will be among the important priorities. He added that Ireland strongly supports the enlargement policy and Montenegro's European path, and that it is ready to provide all necessary assistance - both political and technical - at all stages of the negotiation process," it was announced.
