Unilateral moves by political actors and the absence of dialogue could lead to destabilization in the Western Balkans, said Defense Minister Dragan Krapović and US President's Special Envoy for Special Missions Richard Grenell.

The two met yesterday in Washington and discussed current security challenges with a focus on our region.

They stated that open issues should be resolved at the table and in a spirit of goodwill, the Ministry of Defense announced.

Krapović emphasized that one of the Government's foreign policy priorities is strengthening good neighborly relations based on the principle of mutual respect.

He added that Montenegro greatly appreciates the efforts of the US administration in strengthening regional cooperation and concluded that the European perspective of the Western Balkans is the only guarantee of lasting stability in this area.

"Special Envoy Grenell said that only with a clear political will from all entities in the region can normalization of relations occur. He added that the US values Montenegro's role as a reliable NATO member and welcomed the results the Government is achieving on the path to European integration," the statement reads.
