DPS: Decision in Kovačević case confirms that the prosecution serves the parliamentary majority

That the current parliamentary majority has completely captured the prosecution is also shown by today's decision by the Higher State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica, which dismissed the criminal charges against Marko Kovačević, the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) announced.

"We recall that Kovačević shamelessly spread hatred in a speech at Grahovac in which he emphasized that he would treat dissenters like Turks, so it is shameful that the prosecution does not find in this the elements of the criminal offense of inciting national, racial and religious hatred. Such actions by the prosecution are not surprising in Montenegro, where, thanks to its selective actions, it has profiled itself as a bulletproof vest for protecting those in power from criminal liability and a whip for prosecuting their political dissenters," the DPS stated.

They add that the credit for the fact that no one "anymore believes in the impartial, objective and professional work of the state prosecution service belongs to NGO prosecutor Milorad Marković":

"Whose voice can the public only hear when they talk about increasing their own income, and what about prosecutor Vladimir Novović, in whose locked drawers are hundreds of criminal charges that the Democratic Party of Socialists filed against the leaders of this state government on suspicion that they committed various criminal acts and dominantly abused their official position. It should not go further than the fact that the prosecutorial silence does not stop even in the case of numerous criminal charges filed against this sower of hatred by the Nikšić DPS committee for damaging the citizens' budget - and not just once. In conclusion, although the filing of criminal charges is completely meaningless due to this behavior of the prosecutor's office, the servants and henchmen of the current government, Milorad Marković and Vladimir Novović, should know that the positions are temporary and that one day someone will decide on each one individually, in an unselective, impartial, objective and professional manner, protecting the reputation and dignity of the honorable prosecutorial position that the two of them, as individuals who lead the state prosecutor's office, have degraded," the DPS announced.
