Member of the European Parliament (EP) Tomislav Sokol said that Croatia and Montenegro are close to finding a final solution to the most important issue - compensation for the Morinje concentration camp inmates.
He pointed out that the Sky correspondence shows that crime certainly exists in the country, but that the main problem is foreign influence, especially from Serbia, and then Russia.
"We have provocations, such as the erection of monuments to war criminals or announcements regarding the Morinj plaque," Sokol said at a meeting of the European Union-Montenegro Stabilization and Association Parliamentary Committee (POSP) in the Parliament.
He stressed that Croatia wants Montenegro to join the European Union (EU) and that it will continue to support Montenegro's accession to the EU.
Rapporteur for Montenegro Marijan Šarec said that the rule of law and the Constitutional Court (CC) are issues that need to be resolved very quickly, because without the CC, no state can function.
The environmental issue is also challenging, stating that a collector should be built in Botun and that the invested money should not be allowed to go unused.
He said that there are many difficulties in Montenegro, but that positivism is present and that all European institutions are positive towards Montenegro.
"Without that, there would be no progress."
He pointed out that the divisions in the country are worrying.
