Europe Now (PES) MP Nađa Laković filed a criminal complaint today because, as she claims, she was targeted and insulted on social media, and indicated that her safety was threatened, reports the RTCG portal.
Yesterday, Laković commented on the social network X that the appointment of the President of the Jewish Community of Montenegro, Nina Ofner Bokan, as advisor to the President of the Parliament of Montenegro, Andrija Mandić, should be delayed.
Because of her stance, she stated, numerous offensive posts on social networks followed, along with inappropriate photo montages, where she was compared to fascists and Nazis, reports the RTCG Portal.
In the report, which the RTCG Portal has had access to, Laković accuses the person behind the posts on the "Mimformer" account of endangering her safety.
As she explained, a photoshopped photo was published, showing her face while her body was dressed in a Nazi uniform used in World War II, with a "swastika".
"I felt threatened for the safety of both myself and my entire family. I believe this is the worst form of targeting and characterizing me as an anti-Semite, fascist and Nazi, followed by offensive comments from other profiles," Laković told the police today, according to the RTCG portal.
She also emphasized that she had contacted Nina Ofner Bokan and informed her that her post and comment had been misused by an unknown person. She also informed the Ministry of Justice of Montenegro about everything.
Laković adds that her comment was intended to point out that we have numerous young intellectuals who do not have the opportunity to show themselves in public offices, and that there are no evil intentions or divisions here.
The MP previously explained that her post on the X network was not directed against anyone, nor did it challenge the right of the Speaker of the Parliament to appoint whomever he wants.
"Those who try to misuse my position and present it as an attack on any community are wrong, and they are doing so intentionally. I have nothing against the named person, nor against any community. We live in a civil state in which we all have equal rights, and that is a value that I deeply respect. However, it is unacceptable for me to be targeted and negatively labeled because of such a position. It is absurd to attribute prejudice or exclusivity to me. As an MP, I have an obligation to represent the interests of all citizens - regardless of their national, religious or political affiliation. But the written word can be misinterpreted and I do not hold it against you," Laković announced.
In her first post on the X network, Laković pointed out that the appointment of Ofner Bokan was a surprising fact.
"Given that we live in a multiethnic state, in which the choice of personnel is truly wide - among Serbs, Montenegrins, Bosniaks, Albanians, Croats, Roma and everyone else - the fact that Ms. Ofner Bokan was elected to the position of advisor in the highest institution of the state is surprising. Nothing personal, but I believe that with such an appointment it is necessary to be very careful," Laković wrote at the time.
Ofner Bokan was proposed as Mandić's advisor on September 15th.
At the then session of the Administrative Committee, that body unanimously adopted a decision to address the Secretary General of the Assembly, Boban Stanišić, so that the parliament would determine the necessary forms that Ofner Bokan must fill out, so that the committee could appoint her.
