The importance of further strengthening Montenegro's cooperation with the European Parliament, as well as political support that contributes to greater visibility of the results achieved by Montenegro under Chapter 19 - Social Policy and Employment, was particularly highlighted at the meeting that the Minister of Social Welfare, Family Care and Demography Damir Gutić had today in Brussels with MEP Romana Tomc (EPP).
As announced by the government department headed by Gutić, they discussed Montenegro's priorities in the areas of social and child protection, demography, and European integration.
Gutić, as reported, thanked Slovenia and Tomc for their continued support for Montenegro's European integration and highlighted the progress made in the areas of social protection and demography. He particularly emphasized the importance of exchanging best practices and cooperating with Slovenian institutions in improving demographic policies.
During the meeting, the interlocutors emphasized that the social dimension of the EU enlargement process brings concrete benefits to citizens and contributes to accelerating Montenegro's European path. On that occasion, Gutić invited MP Tomc for a working visit to Podgorica, his department said.
The meeting, it was added, took place in a constructive and partnership atmosphere, with a shared message about the importance of European policies for improving social protection and demographic policies in Montenegro.
The Ministry of Social Welfare, Family Care and Demography recalled that Romana Tomc has been a Member of the European Parliament since 2014, Vice-President of the EPP parliamentary group and member of the Committee on Employment and Social Affairs (EMPL), winner of the MEP Awards 2020, and co-founder and co-chair of the EP Intergroup Committee on Demography, within which she strongly advocates for policies supporting young families.
