The "Risto Ratković" award to the former president of the Bosnian entity Republika Srpska and convicted war criminal Radovan Karadžić will be revoked tonight at a session of the Bijelo Polje parliament scheduled for 19 p.m.
This stems from the Conclusion of the Bijelo Polje Municipal Assembly, which, according to "Vijesti", has been finally agreed upon.
"Based on Article 41, paragraph 1 of the Law on Local Self-Government, Article 50 of the Statute of the Municipality of Bijelo Polje, we are submitting to you a Draft Conclusion accepting the Initiative to revoke the 'Risto Ratković' award from Radovan Karadžić, for further procedure and decision-making," the conclusion states.
In the Conclusion accepting the initiative of the Bosniak side to revoke the award from Karadzic, councilor Amer Smailović was designated as the representative of the proposer who will participate in the work of the Assembly and its working bodies.
The conclusion states that the Bijelo Polje Municipal Assembly accepts the Initiative to revoke the "Risto Ratković" Award from Radovan Karadžić, who was sentenced to life imprisonment for genocide, crimes against humanity, and violation of the laws and customs of war, submitted by the Bijelo Polje Municipal Board of the Bosniak Party.
"The Council of the Public Institution 'Ratković Poetry Evenings' is hereby instructed to, within 30 days of the entry into force of this Conclusion, carry out all necessary activities related to the Initiative referred to in paragraph 1 of this Article, and in accordance with its competences, amend and supplement the acts of the Public Institution 'Ratković Poetry Evenings' which also regulate the issue of the Risto Ratković Award (Statute, Rules and Regulations, etc.) by introducing provisions on the withdrawal of the award.
"In accordance with Article 1 of this Conclusion, the Bijelo Polje Municipal Assembly tasks the Public Institution "Ratković Poetry Evenings", to, in accordance with the amendments to the acts referred to in Article 1, paragraph 2 of this Conclusion, carry out all necessary legal actions with the aim of fully implementing the Initiative referred to in Article 1, paragraph 1 of this Conclusion, and to submit information on the actions taken and decisions made to the Bijelo Polje Municipal Assembly within 30 days from the date of entry into force of the amended acts referred to in Article 1, paragraph 2 of this Conclusion"; the conclusion states.
It is further stated that the Bijelo Polje Municipal Assembly tasks the councils of all public institutions founded by the Bijelo Polje Municipality to review all awards and recognitions awarded so far within 60 days of the entry into force of this Conclusion.
If it is determined that any of the laureates has been convicted by a final judgment of a war crime, a crime against humanity, a crime against peace and genocide, as well as for other acts that make the laureate unworthy of the awards and recognitions awarded, the Councils of Public Institutions are obliged to inform the Bijelo Polje Municipal Assembly.
In addition to the above, the Municipal Assembly of Bijelo Polje tasks the councils of all public institutions founded by the Municipality of Bijelo Polje to amend the Statutes and Regulations on Awards and Recognitions within 60 days from the date of publication of the Conclusion in the Official Gazette of Montenegro by introducing a provision on the withdrawal of the award.
The conclusion, which will be published in the "Official Gazette of Montenegro - Municipal Regulations", is signed by the President of the Municipal Assembly, Selma Omerović.
