The civic movement URA announced today that it has launched a campaign to mark Pink October - the month of fighting breast cancer.

"October is celebrated worldwide as International Breast Cancer Awareness Month, with the aim of raising awareness about the importance of prevention, early detection and support for women facing this disease. It is for these reasons that the URA Civic Movement has launched a campaign with the aim of providing support to all women and encouraging them to undergo preventive health check-ups more often so that the disease can be diagnosed and treated early, thus preserving their health and saving their lives," the URA GP statement states.

The party stated that every year in Montenegro, around 400 women are diagnosed with breast cancer, and that of all women who are treated for some type of cancer, one in four women has breast cancer, and one in six women with breast cancer, unfortunately, dies from the disease.

"These are data that warn us and indicate the importance of this issue. Breast cancer is the most common form of cancer in women, but it is also one of the most curable if detected on time. Therefore, regular preventive examinations, self-examinations, as well as mammography, remain the most reliable ways for early detection of the disease and successful treatment," GP URA said.

They emphasize that women's health must be a priority for every responsible society and that no woman should be alone in the fight against breast cancer.

"The URA civic movement will organize lectures on this occasion during October, but will also visit all cities throughout Montenegro to send every woman the message 'you are important, so for your own sake and for the sake of everyone you care about, go for a preventive check-up'," the statement reads.
