Pićan: WTE is a scandal that robbed the citizens of Budva

Councilor of the "For the Future of Budva" coalition, Bojana Pićan, said that the Mayor of Budva Municipality Nikola Jovanović "trampled on everything we fought for for 30 years and returned the DPS to power."

She stated in a press release that the President of the Budva Municipal Assembly, Petar Odžić, "continues to defend the character and work of Nikola Jovanović" by prohibiting freedom of speech.

She also said that during the Budva Municipal Council session, she was denied the floor and was prevented from speaking about the WTE affair.

"WTE is a scandal that robbed the citizens of Budva. At the last session, I clearly said - WTE is the price of DPS's return to power. Just a few days later, my words came true. The biggest corruption scandal of the Budva criminal group was pardoned today. The Municipality of Budva capitulated to the criminal octopus, the Municipality of Budva capitulated to DPS. Dear fellow citizens, we lost the dispute with WTE on the day when the Budva Municipal Assembly was dissolved in 2024 and when an informal coalition of DPS and Nikola Jovanović was formed. While we were in power, the dispute was resolved in favor of the citizens," said Pićan.

She also asked why WTE agreed to "lose" tens of millions, only to receive only 3,5 million euros from the Municipality.

"Because they don't need money, but reputation. On the global market, ETE is associated with crime and corruption in Montenegro, and with this agreement they are restoring the reputation of their company. The agreement stipulates that all current and future claims are deleted, that the Municipality of Budva never speaks publicly about WTE again, that the state guarantee that we previously called falsified is recognized. In the end, we, the citizens of Budva, give 3,5 million euros, and in return we get unused and damaged equipment that has never processed a single cubic meter of water. Previously, 2,8 million euros were already paid for the desalination plant that was never handed over. Today we are giving another 3,5 million euros - the only question is who? Who is Nikola Jovanović settling with in Budva, and until yesterday he was boasting about his court triumph," said Pićan.
