Movement of People's Trust to DPS: Don't drag the Serbian Orthodox Church into your political mud, you are responsible for divisions, hatred and crime

"This is precisely the opportunity to announce to everyone that this is not the time to use and open up or abuse certain historical issues, which lead to division and the awakening of hatred, and which, among other things, help the DPS survive on the political scene, even after all the bad things they have done to Montenegro and Montenegrin society," the statement reads.

When the DPS talks about fueling nationalism, they should also look in the political mirror and accept that they have been advocating extremely nationalist politics for a long time and that for the past two decades they have not been the civic party they have been trying to present themselves as, announced the People's Trust Movement (PNP), one of the founders of which is Dragoslav Šćekić, the former vice president of the SNP and Minister of Sports and Youth.

We ask you all to refrain from attacking, undermining and abusing the Serbian Orthodox Church and from getting dragged into this earthly, transient, political mud of yours, because it is above all of us and our momentary existence, says the PNP's response to the non-paper on the situation in Montenegro and the region that the DPS presented in recent days in Brussels.

"Given that the Montenegrin public had the opportunity to become acquainted with a strange document, to say the least, as the Democratic Party of Socialists and its representatives called it 'non-paper' or 'in translation' shifting the blame from themselves to others, we must say that the Montenegrin public knows very well their relationship on Montenegro's path to the European Union. This relationship can best be seen through the failure to fulfill essential chapters, which relate to the rule of law, freedom of the media, environmental protection... The DPS, which, through the state apparatus that it irresponsibly ruled for over 30 years (three decades), has produced all possible divisions in society where hatred towards those who disagree with it is the basic rule of conduct, where a series of organized criminal groups have been created that have become an integral part of the state apparatus, which we can see every day from the moment of their removal from power, through the arrests of the presidents of the highest court instances to the prosecutor, the highest police officials, who have humiliated Montenegro, where from a state that should and should be recognized as a special environment on the ground "The European Union has recognized it as a cartel. If they are talking about human rights, freedoms and historical revisionism, they should go back to the time of their rule and look back at everything they did, and what they say they continue to do, which is to keep the citizens of Montenegro in constant political tension, in divisions on national, religious, historical issues, keeping us all together in a state of constant conflict," the statement said.

The movement adds that DPS is certainly not alone in this, but is being helped, as they claim, by other political structures that clearly need the division of Montenegrin society in order to feed themselves politically and thus survive on the political scene by playing ping pong.

"This is precisely the opportunity to tell everyone that this is not the time to use and open up or abuse certain historical issues, which lead to division and hatred, and which, in addition to a number of other moments, help the DPS survive on the political scene, even after all the bad things they have done to Montenegro and Montenegrin society. Otherwise, we, as the people of Montenegro, will understand that they are actually doing this intentionally to keep themselves in the focus of their target group of voters. No matter how and whoever bases their political interest on divisions and discord among their own people, it is not good or fair," the PNP assesses.

They also tell the DPS that it is inappropriate to talk about the successes of this or any other government in comparison to their rule.

"Because it tramples on the psyche of our citizens and the memory of a period not so distant, but only less than five years, and if it is too much from you, it is too much. If that were the case, this Government would not have to do anything to fulfill so many unfulfilled obligations and problems that you have left in all segments, and in particular, as the source of everything bad, they have been destroyed: the rule of law, the economy, civil liberties, the media, education, healthcare, the departure of young people... The product of your work is the OKG and corruption that you continue to defend through criminal elements in the police, prosecutor's office and judiciary, but we believe that this fight against all of this that has begun will persist and result in a more certain future for the entire Montenegrin society and state," the statement emphasizes.

If we are talking about a decline in trust in relation to the EU, then the culprits are the DPS and those who support them and still do not understand that Montenegro must break with the policies that the DPS led, adds the PNP.

"Because the people have asked for it and continue to ask for it, and no one has the right to ignore it, whether it concerns policies within Montenegro or whether it comes from individuals from international circles, precisely because the people perceive that Montenegro's entry into the EU is thereby raising the rule of law to the highest level, and not tolerance and rescuing the perpetrators of crime and corruption. Therefore, the fewer of you there are and the less you are heard, the more harmony and trust there will be both among the people and in the EU, and that means letting go and not stumbling the Government to complete, in accordance with general expectations and with great effort, all the obligations that you did not want, dared and knew about, and to become part of the EU as soon as possible," the statement concludes.
