The Kolašin board of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) has called on the President of the Municipality, Petko Bakić, to urgently propose the dismissal of the vice president of the local government, Vasilije Ivanović, who, they claim, is performing that function illegally.
They also announced that they would submit an initiative to the Administrative Inspection.
"The violation of the law by local officials in Kolašin continues. After Bojan Medenica, an official of the Democrats, who illegally held three public positions at the same time, Vasilije Ivanović, an official of the Europe Now Movement, is also violating the law. Despite the verdict of the Higher Court in Bijelo Polje, which sentenced him a year ago to 30 days in prison with a suspended sentence of one year, for the criminal offense of endangering security, Ivanovic continues to hold the position of vice-president of the Municipality of Kolašin," the statement reads.
They say the law is clear in this case.
"It stipulates that the mandate of the deputy mayor of the municipality ends if he is convicted by a final judgment of an act that makes him unworthy of performing public office. Despite this, the mayor of the municipality of Kolašin, Petko Bakić, has still not proposed his dismissal to the local parliament. Therefore, Ivanovic, who on that occasion climbed onto the roof of a car and made threats through a megaphone: 'Blood will flow, blood will fall, if you pass by', committed a criminal act that makes him unworthy of performing the function that he was assigned," adds the DPS.
They said that such behavior by the deputy mayor of the municipality "does not reflect well" on him or the party that nominated him for the position.
"We call on the President of the Municipality of Kolašin, Petko Bakić, to urgently propose his dismissal and the election of someone worthy of the position of vice president, and we inform the public that regarding this case, an initiative will be sent to the Administrative Inspection, which in previous similar situations has shown expeditiousness in conducting supervision and imposing appropriate sanctions. Finally, we call on local officials to understand the seriousness of the functions they perform and we hope that all government officials in Kolašin will respect the Constitution and the laws to which they refer so much," the statement reads.
