The president of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) parliamentary group, Andrija Nikolić, said that certain actors in the ruling majority "are now their personal enemies."
The first session of the Second Regular (Autumn) Session in 2025 began today in Cetinje.
Nikolić said that "the chaos on the streets of Montenegro, the fleeing monument, the Tunnel affair" indicate that the government is in crisis, so it was necessary to "involve the prosecutor's office as the supreme arbitrator."
"Why the attack on DPS and critical media? Anyone who dares to speak about deviations and bad phenomena in Montenegrin society can be a target. It is not those who are not strong who are attacked, but those who can threaten this parliamentary majority. Yesterday, today and tomorrow we support the fight against corruption and organized crime, but this topic is being abused to stop the process of political change and give air to the parliamentary majority... From today on, you are not just political opponents because some have legitimized themselves as personal enemies, and we will treat you accordingly in the future," he said.
At the suggestion of Social Democrat (SD) MP Branislav Nenezić, MPs held a minute of silence for the death of former MP and minister Jusuf Kalamperović.
Independent MP Jevrosima Pejović called for more attention to be paid to mental health in the autumn session.
The agenda was supplemented by the Draft Law on Ratification of the Agreement between the Government of Montenegro and the Government of France on the Implementation of Priority Projects and Financial Cooperation, the Law on Amendments to the Criminal Code, the Draft Law on the Protection of Equality and Prohibition of Discrimination, the Draft Law on Business Organizations, and the Draft Law on Registration of Business and Other Entities.
With 46 MPs voting "in favor" and two abstaining, the Parliament re-voted the Law on Amendments to the Law on Real Estate Tax, which President Jakov Milatović returned for reconsideration.
Chairman Boris Pejović thus ended the session, announcing that the session would continue tomorrow.
