"During the visit, Montenegrin parliamentarians held a series of meetings with representatives of the German Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Bundestag, as well as with representatives of the Franco-German Youth Office. Opinions were exchanged with the interlocutors on the current state of Montenegro's European integration, as well as policies aimed at young people and improving their position in society," the statement reads.

The Parliament added that this visit represents another in a series of activities that follow after representatives of all twelve parliamentary groups of the Parliament of Montenegro signed a joint declaration on their commitment to working on youth issues and improving their position in society.

"Representatives of German institutions expressed satisfaction with the pace of Montenegro's progress in the process of accession to the European Union, emphasizing that Montenegro's entry into the EU could create a new dynamic and incentive for other Western Balkan countries. The participants agreed that the Berlin Process, within which RYCO was established, can serve as an effective model for building trust, reconciliation and intercultural cooperation in the region, and that the Franco-German partnership represents an example of successful cooperation that can be an inspiration for the countries of the Western Balkans," it states.

As stated by the Parliament, the study visit was carried out with the aim of strengthening the parliamentary dimension of the Berlin Process.

"The parliamentarians informed their interlocutors about Montenegro's further steps on the path of European integration, and exchanged opinions on improving inter-party cooperation aimed at supporting young people. The MPs emphasized that there is a broad political and social consensus in Montenegro on the country's European future, and that there are no Eurosceptic parties - both the government and the opposition firmly support the European integration process," the statement reads.

The statement concludes that the visit is part of the continuous cooperation of the Parliament of Montenegro with international partners with the aim of strengthening European dialogue, building trust and developing parliamentary capacities.
