Montenegrin President Jakov Milatović will pay a working visit to Brussels, where tomorrow he will discuss the draft Treaty on the Accession of Montenegro to the European Union (EU) with European Council President Antonio Košta.

As announced by Milatović's office, he will also discuss with Košta the organization of the EU-Western Balkans Summit, which will be hosted by Montenegro next year.

It is stated that the conversation with Košta, following the meeting with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, is expected to further confirm the strong support of European partners for Montenegro's key reform processes and give new impetus to the finalization of the negotiation process.

"The EU is our work action, every day and in every job. It is the force that leads us to membership in 2028," the cabinet said.

They explained that with this message, Milatović will emphasize that reforms, the rule of law and the fight against corruption are the key pillars on which Montenegro is building its place in the European community.

As stated in the statement, Milatović will speak at the roundtable of the Friends of Europe organization about Montenegro's role as a leader in European integration in the region and its key strategic goal: EU membership by 2028.

"During the visit, the President will deliver a lecture at the renowned College of Europe in Bruges," the statement said.

It is added that the two-day visit to Belgium is a continuation of Milatović's diplomatic efforts and a strong step by which Montenegro will confirm its commitment to becoming the 28th member of the EU by 2028.
