Honorary consuls are an important part of the diplomatic network and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) remains committed to strengthening institutional support for their work through continuous communication, clear priorities and new forms of cooperation, said the relevant Minister Ervin Ibrahimović.
Today, he opened a conference of honorary consuls of Montenegro in Budva, organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The government department announced that this year's conference, under the theme "Montenegro on the International Stage: Security, Prosperity, Reputation", brought together more than 30 honorary consuls from different countries around the world.
In his address, Ibrahimović thanked the honorary consuls for their dedication and contribution to the promotion of Montenegro, emphasizing that they are an important part of the diplomatic network and an extended arm of Montenegrin diplomacy.
"In the countries where you live and work, you promote Montenegro and its interests and values, contribute to strengthening economic, cultural and tourist ties, help our citizens abroad and provide support in crisis situations," said Ibrahimović.
He reminded that Montenegro today has 60 honorary consuls in 48 countries.
"He emphasized that the Ministry remains committed to strengthening institutional support for their work through continuous communication, clear priorities and new forms of cooperation," the statement said.
Ibrahimović said that their goal is for the network of honorary consuls to be connected and recognized as an integral part of Montenegro's diplomatic network and an important instrument of its international affirmation.
Speaking about economic prospects, he pointed out the importance of cooperation between diplomacy and the economy.
Ibrahimović added that he is pleased that the honorary consuls will participate in the international conference on the economy "Montenegro 2025", organized by the Chamber of Commerce of Montenegro.
"The synergy between diplomacy and the economy shows our intention to strengthen economic diplomacy, because every new investment, initiative for cooperation, every successful promotion of Montenegro contributes to the development of our country and its better positioning on the international stage," said Ibrahimović.
Honorary Consul of Montenegro in India, Janice Darbari, said that honorary consuls represent the extended family of Montenegro around the world.
She, as announced, pointed to the long-standing friendship and cultural ties between Montenegro and India, the economic potential of Montenegro and the importance of foreign investments that confirm the credibility of Montenegro's vision of development.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the conference, which runs until Friday, aims to further strengthen the network of honorary consuls, improve cooperation in the areas of economy, culture, tourism and consular services, as well as increase Montenegro's international visibility.
