Head of State Jakov Milatović today laid a wreath at the monument to the heroes of the Battle of Mojkovac, saying that Montenegro today knows who it is and where it is going - towards full membership in the European Union (EU).
"President Jakov Milatović began his official visit to the municipality of Mojkovac by laying a wreath at the monument to the heroes of the Battle of Mojkovac. Together with the mayor of the municipality, Vesko Delić, he paid tribute to their courage and sacrifice," reads a statement from Milatović's office.
Milatović said that he was very pleased to be on an official visit to the Municipality of Mojkovac.
"My first official visit as president of the state, which I am starting right here, at the monument in honor of the Battle of Mojkovac. I am here today as president, but also as a proud descendant of one of the participants in the Battle of Mojkovac. My great-grandfather participated here at the age of 16 and was sung about in a song, which says that 'as long as there are Battlefields and Mojkovac, people will talk about that Montenegrin and Sokol, Vukčević Ante, who defended the Mojkovac Gate'," he said.
He said that "today we remember our ancestors, in order to convey the story of our famous ancestors and our descendants, we know who we are, but we also know where we need to go."
"Montenegro is today on its way to full membership in the European Union, and today I came to one of our northern municipalities to discuss infrastructure projects, the development of this important municipality of ours, together with the leadership of the Mojkovac Municipality, to talk to the citizens of Mojkovac, because we need to take extra care and put extra focus on our north," said Milatović.
