There is no better future without new, well-paid jobs and the completion of development projects, said President Jakov Milatović, during his first official visit to the municipality of Mojkovac.
He spoke with the mayor, Vesko Delić, about development projects in the city and improving the lives of citizens.
"We talked about a major tourism project - the Žarski Ski Center, which we will visit together. We also touched on the necessity of additional transport infrastructure and better connectivity," said Milatović.
He stated that the future bridge on the Tara River is extremely important and he hopes to get a contractor soon. The Traffic Directorate, he added, is responsible for the implementation of the project.
"We also exchanged several very innovative ideas that I heard from the Municipality's leadership, and they concern the additional enrichment of the tourist offer of this beautiful region through a replica of the medieval town of Brskovo. I must say that it seems to me that the local government is trying to bring a new dynamic of development - I would like the central government to understand and support this further," said Milatović after the meeting.
One of the topics was the Brskovo mine - legal, economic and ecological aspects of the lack of valorization of this project.
"The Mayor also informed me of the positions of the local government regarding the mine. These positions, it seems to me, are to a certain extent different from the previous positions held by the Government of Montenegro," said Milatović.
The visit to Mojkovac also includes a tour of successful agricultural farms and entrepreneurs who are reviving old crafts as part of the ReLoad project, as well as a conversation with the citizens of Mojkovac, which is planned for 17 p.m. in the Multimedia Hall of the Mojkovac Municipality.
"Today I am here to talk not only with the leadership of the Municipality, but also with the citizens of Mojkovac about the challenges they face, but also about what I am working on when it comes to our European perspective. You know that Mojkovac is one of the poorer municipalities in Montenegro, facing serious demographic challenges. There is no better future without new, well-paid jobs - that is the essence of my work, the work of the Government and the work of local self-government," concluded Milatović.
