The development of the economy and the completion of numerous important infrastructure projects can raise the standard of living in Mojkovac, said the President of Montenegro Jakov Milatović in a conversation with the citizens of this northern municipality.
He said that Mojkovac has lost nearly two thousand residents in recent years, and that it is not just young people who are leaving, but entire families.
"These are not statistics, these are our people - and that is why we must act. It is time for Mojkovac to live again - from its work, not from waiting," said Milatović.
Milatović, as announced by his office, emphasized the importance of developing the economy and completing numerous important infrastructure projects in the municipality, such as the Žarski ski center, the Mojkovac - Đurđevića Tara road, and others, which can raise the standard of living in Mojkovac.
He also said that the economy must be strengthened and accelerated because the north will be left without people and the most beautiful part of Montenegro will be completely empty.
According to Milatović, in the coming period, a more meaningful policy must be pursued, one that would keep people from leaving due to injustice and lack of work, and on the other hand, care should be taken of those who come.
"Mojkovac knows how to work, it was once strong and it can be again. We just need new energy, greater support from the state and faith in what we know - that you can make a living from honest work," Milatović pointed out.
He spoke about the importance of the country's European integration, the introduction of open lists into the electoral system, as well as the development of the economy and business, as the greatest prerequisite for the survival of municipalities in the north of the country.
"You know that I am one of the biggest advocates of a European Montenegro and of becoming an EU member state by 2028, of finally becoming a society of law and justice. I think that the fact that I am speaking to you so openly today as President is important in the context of the democratization of society," said Milatović.
He emphasized that the key to democracy lies in open lists.
"It is time to return decision-making to citizens - to vote for their first and last name, not their party. Only in this way can some kind of responsibility and connection be established between citizens and those they elect to be members of the Parliament," said Milatović.
