Spajić is asked about immigration policy: Prime Minister's hour scheduled for Thursday

The issue of immigration was brought to the forefront by the wounding of Podgorica resident MJ on Saturday evening, in which, according to the Police Department, citizens of Turkey and Azerbaijan participated, which caused a series of xenophobic incidents.

The government's plan in the field of immigration policy is one of the questions from MPs that Prime Minister Milojko Spajić (Europe Now Movement) will answer in parliament on Thursday.

"What is the government's plan in the field of immigration policy? We know that the European Commission is warning us that we must conduct a more responsible visa policy and harmonize it with the visa policy of the European Union as soon as possible. What will you do to bring order to the, for now, uncontrolled influx of foreign citizens from all over the world to us, who already account for about 20 percent (of the total population of the country)?" is the question asked by independent MP Radinka Ćinćur.

A similar question was raised by Socialist People's Party (SNP) MP Slađana Kaluđerović, who said that "recently, the public has increasingly been pointing out the issue of the increasing number of Turkish citizens who have recently been moving to Montenegro, especially in coastal municipalities and in Podgorica."

She said that such a trend, "although formally within the framework of the law, raises serious questions about the demographic, economic, and security dimensions of that process."

"Does the Government of Montenegro have precise data on the scope and nature of the immigration of Turkish citizens? Is an analysis of the possible consequences for the demographic structure and real estate market being carried out, as well as whether the Government will take measures to ensure full control and protection of Montenegro's national interests, respect for international obligations and European standards?" Kaluđerović asked.

The issue of immigration was brought to the forefront by the wounding of Podgorica resident MJ on Saturday evening, in which, according to the Police Department, citizens of Turkey and Azerbaijan participated, which caused a series of incidents - from xenophobic chanting, to the demolition of restaurants, to the burning of cars owned by Turkish citizens...

The head of the parliamentary group of Spajić's Europe Now Movement, Vasilije Čarapić, asked what concrete plans and significant goals the Government intends to achieve in the remaining two years of its mandate.

"If the Report on the Work of the Prosecutor's Office does not receive a majority of the total number of deputies in the Parliament, do you believe that legitimacy has been lost and should (Supreme State Prosecutor) Milorad Marković resign?" asked the head and MP of the Democratic Party of Socialists, Danijel Živković.

Democratic MP Boris Bogdanović said that "given the fact that continuous attacks on the police and institutions are coming from political-criminal structures that have been managing the state as a private property for decades," he asks:

"Are the attacks on the security sector an expression of despair and panic by those who have used the security sector for years to enrich their sons, godfathers and business partners through illegal concessions, privatizations and state property sold for a million, then bought back for ten, now that their world of mafia, smuggling, corruption and apartments is finally colliding with the world of justice, the rule of law and a state that belongs to its citizens?" Bogdanović said.

"How do you comment on the following facts: that annual inflation in Montenegro is the highest in the last 16 months (since May last year); that annual inflation in Montenegro is more than twice as high as inflation in the eurozone countries; that annual inflation in Montenegro is higher than in 19 out of 20 EU countries that use the euro, or in 25 out of 27 EU countries, while only one of the seven countries in the region (including Croatia and Slovenia) recorded a higher annual price growth rate; that in the last five and a half years, the price of food has increased almost twice as much in our country as in the EU, pharmaceutical products three times, medical services four to four and a half times, toys 15 times?" is the question asked by the president of the Social Democrats (SD) parliamentary group, Boris Mugoša.

Mugoša also asked what measures the Government of Montenegro has taken in the past 6 months to curb price increases?

Democratic People's Party (DNP) MP Jelena Kljajević asked what specific benefits and uses, both for citizens and for the Montenegrin economy, the Government expects from the presence and expansion of Wizz Air's business in Montenegro.

"What have you done as Prime Minister to prevent the rise in prices of products and services in Montenegro, given that you and your Government, with your decisions to increase the tax on services in tourism, as well as taxes and excise duties on a wide range of products and services, while disrupting the business environment and the stability of public finances - are most responsible for the rise in inflation and the weakening of the purchasing power of Montenegrin citizens?" asked Miloš Konatar, president of the Civic Movement (GP) URA parliamentary group.

Bosniak Party MP Mirsad Nurković asked, recognizing the importance of the Štedim ski center for the development of tourism and the local economy of the Rožaje municipality, whether the Prime Minister could specify the stage of implementation of the Štedim ski center project, as well as what are the specific deadlines for the completion of infrastructure works and when the center is expected to be fully functional for visitors?

Nurković also asked how much of the budget has been spent so far on the construction of the Štedim ski center and what tenders have been announced this year.

"Has the Government planned to launch new tenders this year and in what approximate amounts? To what extent is the project proceeding according to the planned dynamics, are there any delays and what are the reasons for such deviations from deadlines?"

Also, given the strategic importance of the development of the north of Montenegro, can you inform us about the status of other capital and infrastructure investments in the north, such as projects in the fields of tourism, transport infrastructure, energy and agriculture? What are the Government's plans in terms of their completion, ensuring financial sustainability and creating conditions for balanced regional development?" Nurković asked.

He also asked what the current investment dynamics are in the north and whether the Government is planning additional incentives to attract domestic and foreign investors, in order to ensure long-term functionality and economic benefits from all local community projects.
