Montenegro's European path is a political goal, but even more so a national project of the new generation, which unites society around common values, stability, knowledge and progress, said Montenegrin President Jakov Milatović.

As announced by Milatović's office, during his visit to France, he gave a lecture at the prestigious Sciences Po faculty in Paris, where numerous world leaders have gained knowledge, including as many as six French presidents - Pompidou, Mitterrand, Chirac, Sarkozy, Hollande and Macron.

It is stated that the lecture on the topic "European Integration Process: The Story of Montenegro" was an opportunity for Milatović to present the vision of a modern, determined and European Montenegro, which, it is added, shows with its reforms and commitment that it is ready to become the 28th member of the European Union (EU) by 2028.

"Montenegro is today the most advanced candidate for EU membership, determined to complete negotiations in 2026 and two years later take its deserved place in the European family of nations," said Milatović.

He emphasized that Montenegro's European path is a political goal, but even more so a national project of the new generation, which unites society around common values, stability, knowledge and progress.

Milatović said that Montenegro is a NATO member that uses the euro and is fully aligned with the EU's common foreign and security policy.

"Montenegro is proving that it can have great European influence when it has a clear vision and the courage to implement it," Milatović added.

He said that European reforms are the path to development, modernization and the creation of a society of equal opportunities.

Milatović presented four possible scenarios for future EU enlargement, emphasizing that the best outcome is one in which both the Union and the candidates jointly deliver results.

He reportedly placed special emphasis on youth and the importance of education.

"For young people, the EU means opportunities, knowledge and standards. That is why we launched the EU Academy, a bridge between young people and European institutions, through which they will learn, create and lead change. European Montenegro starts with them," said Milatović.

He concluded that a European Montenegro is not being built only in Brussels, but every day at home, through the knowledge, work and ideas of people who believe in the future of the country.
