ZBCG: Prosecutor's Office leaders do not want to reform that institution, someone would like to establish a fourth branch of government

The Coalition "For the Future of Montenegro" believes that the leaders of the State Prosecutor's Office do not want, "and apparently do not have the strength" to reform that institution.

They also claim that "someone wants" to establish a fourth branch of government, which would be hierarchically above the three defined by the Constitution.

This coalition commented on the statements of the Supreme State Prosecutor Milorad Marković in last night's show "Načisto" on TV Vijesti.

"He talks about his expectations regarding the case of a knife attack on a young man from Zabjelo, who was stabbed seven times, in the presence of his girlfriend and a dozen other eyewitnesses. In addition to all this, there is also a recording of the attack. All this was not enough, but the Higher Court, namely the leader of the fake Coup d'état affair - Suzana Mugoša, acquitted the suspects. All this does not prevent the VDT and his interlocutor from spending a good part of the show talking about Nebojša Medojević, Milan Knežević and Marko Kovačević, analyzing their statements and trying to put them in the context of recent events in Podgorica and some other cities in Montenegro," the Facebook post reads.

They said that Danilo Mandić, who has been in custody for seven months, "without any relevant evidence for the charges against him", was particularly targeted.

"It is precisely in this relationship towards Andrija Mandić's nephew and towards those who stabbed the young man in Zabjelo that lies the essence of the actions of the State Prosecutor's Office and those close to him. Now there is a completely well-founded suspicion that Danilo Mandić is still in custody only because he is Andrija Mandić's nephew, and that the situation is much easier for those who stabbed the young man in Zabjelo, because they have a much better standing in the judiciary," claims the ZBCG.

The Higher Court in Podgorica announced this morning that the detention of two foreign citizens has been lifted because, after checking the footage from the cameras in the buildings where they live, it was determined that they were in their accommodation at the time when Podgorica resident MJ was stabbed and that there is no longer any reasonable suspicion that they are defendants in the proceedings.

ZBCG believes that, "based on what was said in last night's broadcast, it is slowly becoming clear that the current leaders of the Prosecutor's Office do not want, and apparently do not have the strength, to reform that institution."

"They will continue to be surrounded by the personnel that DPS installed in that organization. Danijel Živković and his team will continue to raise dust during every theatrical action that will later end according to the model of sport fishing - 'catch and release'. If we add to all this the threats to the emissaries that Živković spoke about, it is clear why support for the VDT in parliament has fallen from 61 to 25 MPs, while among citizens this drop in support is even greater," they add.

They said that citizens are demanding concrete actions and that they "know very well who were the main actors in the criminalization of Montenegro."

"Citizens want justice, not action movies in Podgorica that ultimately result in insufficiently substantiated indictments and a lack of final verdicts. It is clear to everyone that someone wants to establish a fourth branch of government that would be hierarchically above the three defined by our Constitution. It is clear to everyone that the key is the showdown against the coalition For the Future of Montenegro, because we do not agree to anyone deceiving citizens who have been seeking justice for thirty years. Unlike the heads of the prosecution, we do not renounce the citizens who gave us a mandate. No one has us in their pockets. We will always and everywhere, on behalf of the citizens, demand that justice be served," the announcement reads.
