A councilor of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) in the Zeta Municipal Assembly (MA), Dušan Radonjić, claims that the allegations made by the "For the Future of Zeta" coalition - that he attacked representatives of that alliance today, in the premises of the local parliament - are untrue.
He confirmed to "Vijesti" that an incident occurred today in the office of the Mayor's Office, but did not want to discuss the details of the event, stating that the case will have a court outcome.
The coalition "For the Future of Zeta" called earlier today for Radonjić to be detained, stating that he "bloodily beat" the president of the Democratic People's Party (DNP) councilors' club in the Zeta Municipal Assembly, Vesko Rašović, and that the head of the New Serbian Democracy (NSD) councilors' club Anastasija Damjanović was also injured during the separation. They claim that Rašović suffered serious physical injuries (hematomas and cuts to the head), and add that their councilor has filed a police report.
Rašović told "Vijesti" that he expects the competent authorities to protect him, so that he can continue to do what "the people elected him to do", adding that he expects Radonjić to be arrested.
"There was a witness hearing at the police station. I'm not asking anyone to say a single word in my favor, which wasn't the case. I'm 60 and a bit old, it's not befitting for me to argue with someone who's not even 50, to attack me in the Parliament...", he said.
Rašović stated that a meeting of the presidents of the councilor clubs in the Zeta Municipal Assembly was organized today, regarding the scheduling of the parliamentary session, which should be held on Tuesday and whose agenda should include only one item - the election of the Municipal Assembly President.
"Given that Radonjić is not the president of the club (of DPS councilors), but was replacing someone else, he came to cause incidents. Since I have been a councilor, for about six or seven years, it has never happened that anyone has replaced any of them, they simply don't come, because it is not even an obligation, it is over, the agenda is formed and it ends without that. He came with the intention of causing incidents," claims Rašović.
He said that he has not been on good terms with Radonjić ever since the session at which, he claims, the DPS councilor "threw a bottle at him", after Rašović, as he said, told him in jargon - "don't hit him".
He stated that when Radonjić entered the office of the mayor, he greeted those present and intended to do the same with Rašović, but that the DNP councilor told him that "there was no need to greet him after all."
He claims that after saying goodbye to the president of the NSD councilors' club, Radonjić began to insult him in the "most horrible way".
"Those were such insults that it's not normal. Then he returned to his place and, unprovoked, while I was sitting in the armchair, attacked me... He attacked me where I was sitting, so that in a short time he was beating me," said Rašović.
He said that, given that there were only three of his colleagues in the room, they tried to separate them, and then opened the office door and called for help.
"At that moment, the NSD representatives had two broken fingers. My injuries were diagnosed at the Emergency Center," said Rašović, stating that he had also filed a criminal complaint.
