We demand that an investigation be finally launched and that the perpetrators of the savage attack and brutal beating of the driver of the Democratic People's Party (DNP) Dušan Knežević on October 17, 2015, in front of the Parliament of Montenegro, when the Democratic Front (DF) was holding its regularly registered protest, Vladislav Bojović, a DNP MP, announced today.
"We support the initiative of Democratic Montenegro to establish all the circumstances and bring to justice those responsible for the attack on its official Krsto Radović that took place before the local elections in Nikšić. At the same time, we demand that an investigation be finally launched and that the perpetrators of the savage attack and brutal beating of the driver of the Democratic People's Party, Dušan Knežević, on October 17, 2015, in front of the Parliament of Montenegro, when the Democratic Front held its regularly reported protest, are determined. Bearing in mind that there has been silence about this event for ten years, we demand that it be finally determined who at the top of the then state government and the security sector grossly abused their official position, from whom the masked police officers received the order, or command, and who directly participated in this attack, which I, as a member of the Parliament of Montenegro and a participant in the protest, witnessed," Bojović emphasized in a statement.
He added that this was not an abuse of authority, but a classic attempted murder.
"How else can you qualify a crime when a young man, who offers no resistance, is savagely attacked and brutally beaten by more than ten uniformed police officers in body armor, then they throw him over the protective fence, after which he hits his head on the pavement, only to be trampled on for a long time with boots by another group of masked police officers. I am convinced that on that occasion only the strength of nature saved our colleague Dušan Knežević from succumbing to his injuries," said Bojović.
He said that they are certain that there are recordings of this event, "bearing in mind that the entire illegal action of breaking up the Democratic Front protests was recorded by the Police Directorate at the time."
"Therefore, we expect these recordings to be published and those who ordered and participated in the attack on the leader of the Democratic People's Party, Milan Knežević, which took place the same night, to be held criminally accountable. We expect in the end that those who arrested his mother will also be held accountable, and not that they will be promoted, which we see is unfortunately the case," said Bojović.
