As much as the Montenegrin fans deserved respect last night — as did the players of both teams on the field — the behavior of the Croatian fans was shameful and condemnable, said the president and MP of the Croatian Civic Initiative, Adrijan Vuksanović.
From the southern stands of the City Stadium in Podgorica last night, during the match between the football teams of Montenegro and Croatia, chants of "Ready for the homeland", "Kill a Serb" could be heard...
"With their scandalous actions, they have proven themselves unworthy of the great sporting spectacle we witnessed in Podgorica. The Croatian Civic Initiative, consistent with its policy based on principles in which there is no place for chauvinism, wherever it comes from, does not agree to remain silent like those who are the loudest today and do not react to nationalist outbursts within their own ranks. Therefore, we condemn the behavior of the aforementioned Croatian fans in the strongest terms, while we congratulate the Montenegrin fans on their dignified cheering," Vuksanović said, as reported by Radio Dux.
