The President of the Board of Directors of the Center for European Policies, Srđan Majstorović, stated that it is high time for the citizens of Serbia to decide how to proceed because the Serbian Progressive Party regime, with such policies, is leading both the state and society into "gradual disappearance".
"This is the high time when Serbia, or rather the citizens of Serbia, must put their finger on their forehead and decide how to proceed. It is obvious that this regime, with such policies, is leading both the state and society into gradual disappearance," Majstorović said in the podcast "Witness of Time", the entire conversation of which will be broadcast on Friday, November 21, at 20 p.m. on the podcast's YouTube channel.
Majstorović pointed out that countries in which there are captive institutions and a narrow group that accumulates economic, security and media power are, based on historical comparative analysis, doomed to disappear.
Speaking about European integration, Majstorović stated that Serbia cannot become a member of the European Union (EU) at this time because it does not meet the basic requirements for it.
According to him, the only way to speed up this process is a change of government.
"Accession to the European Union is not in the interests of this regime. They feel comfortable in a position where they have developed trade relations with the EU and a solid inflow of investments from the EU, but at the same time, they are not obliged to strictly implement what is required of European Union members. Although, that position will also be increasingly difficult to sustain," said Majstorović.
He pointed out that it is a realistic option for Montenegro, Albania, and even Moldova to become EU members before Serbia.
"Moldova has an important geostrategic position and after the elections in September this year and taking a firm course towards the EU, we should not be surprised if Moldova joins the European Union before Serbia," said Majstorović.
