Secretary General of the Europe Now Movement Boris Pejović told Montenegrin President Jakov Milatović that the party "cannot be blamed for what the opposition has tricked him into doing."
Pejović said that the candidate for Constitutional Court judge Mirjana Vučinić, who was proposed by Milatović for Constitutional Court judge without prior consultations with MPs, was not supported in the second round even by opposition MPs with whom the President of the country had agreed to support.
"Therefore, the attempt by the President of Montenegro to shift sole responsibility to the PES MPs is only a continuation of the incorrect attitude towards the party that supported him for the presidency. It would be rational for President Milatović to seek responsibility for not voting for the candidate he proposed from those with whom he had made an agreement and from whom he expected support, because PES cannot be to blame for what the opposition tricked him into doing. Also, if he were principled and if the President of the state really cared about the Constitutional Court being completed, he would probably have public objections to the lack of responsibility even among those parliamentarians who are very close to him, and who did not vote for all the proposed candidates," Pejović said.
He also said that he left it to the public to conclude why Milatović does not have such a relationship with everyone.
"Namely, candidate Vučinić, who was proposed by the president of the state for a judge of the Constitutional Court without prior consultations with the deputies, was not supported in the second round even by the opposition deputies with whom the president of the state had agreed to support. Therefore, the attempt by the president of Montenegro to shift exclusive responsibility to the PES deputies is only a continuation of the incorrect attitude towards the party that supported him for the presidency. It would be rational for President Milatović to seek responsibility for not voting for the candidate he proposed from those with whom he had made an agreement and from whom he expected support, because PES cannot be to blame for what the opposition tricked him into doing," said Pejović.
The PES official also said that Milatović is "principled" and that he "really cares about the Constitutional Court being complete", and that he would probably have public objections to the lack of responsibility "even among those parliamentarians who are very close to him, and who did not vote for all the proposed candidates".
"I leave it to the public to conclude why the president of the state does not have such a relationship with everyone," he said.
