Montenegro and the United Kingdom (UK), as strong allies within NATO, will continue to improve partnership relations in the interest of security, development and the European perspective of Montenegro, the office of President Jakov Milatović announced.
It is stated that Milatović met with a delegation from the Foreign Affairs Committee of the House of Commons of the UK Parliament in Podgorica.
"The conversation took place in a friendly atmosphere and confirmed that Montenegro and the UK share long-term interests and values: regional stability, prosperity of citizens and strong, reliable institutions," the statement said.
The President's Office said that the focus was on shared priorities - supporting Montenegro's European path, cooperation in the areas of security and the rule of law, strengthening the resilience of society, including the fight against disinformation, as well as common foreign policy goals.
"Possibilities for practical cooperation through the exchange of experiences and expert and technical support were discussed, and the importance of consistent strategic communication was emphasized," the statement said.
According to the President's Office, further cooperation and intensification of communication were discussed, including through parliamentary diplomacy.
"As strong allies within NATO, Montenegro and the UK will continue to enhance partnership relations in the interest of our country's security, development and European perspective. Montenegro continues its diplomatic campaign with a clear goal: the 28th member of the European Union by 2028," the statement said.
