The President of the Parliament of Montenegro, Andrija Mandić, today, during his official visit to the United Kingdom, held a meeting with the Speaker of the House of Lords of the Parliament of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Lord John McFaul of Alcluith.
"Mandić expressed his satisfaction with the meeting, adding that Montenegro, although an old European country, only embarked on the path of strengthening democracy and freedom after the fall of communism and the historical changes of 2020, and that this official visit is proof that we want to strengthen the universal values of freedom and democracy," the Parliament of Montenegro announced.
The President of the Assembly thanked the United Kingdom for the assistance provided by its security services in the fight against organized crime and corruption, and especially against cigarette smuggling.
"Lord McFaul stressed that this meeting is an important symbol of strengthening bilateral relations and added that the United Kingdom is ready to work with Montenegro as its close ally in the future," it was announced.
