PES Kotor: Due to DPS obstructions, we lost a precious year, now we need to focus on progress

Due to continuous obstruction by the DPS, Kotor lost a precious year. Instead of development, projects and solving the concrete problems of its citizens, the city was held hostage to political calculations and attempts to nullify the electoral will through manipulation.

This was announced by the Municipal Committee of the Europe Now Movement (PES) Kotor, which welcomed the decision of the Constitutional Court, which finally put an end to what they said was a months-long blockade of the electoral will of the citizens of that city.

"We are glad that justice has received its full epilogue and that the citizens of our city will finally receive confirmation of their clearly expressed will in the elections held on September 29, 2024. The announcement of the election results by the Municipal Election Commission has created the conditions for the formation of a legal and legitimate local government, which stems from the electoral will of the citizens," the Kotor PES statement said.

The party states that the Constitutional Court clearly confirmed what they have been saying from the beginning - that the alleged irregularities at the Prčanj and Mirac polling stations could not have had a relevant impact on the election outcome and could not constitute grounds for annulling the elections at those two polling stations.

"The court's decision confirmed the integrity of the electoral process, as well as the victory of the coalition of the Europe Now Movement and Democratic Montenegro, which won 10 mandates and received the strong trust of citizens to lead Kotor through development, stability and much-needed reforms. The PES Kotor Municipal Board remains determined to make up for lost time caused by political blockades, and to begin the implementation of development projects and improving the quality of life in our city as soon as possible. We call on all political actors to respect the decisions of the competent institutions, the law and the electoral will of the citizens, because Kotor has lost too much time on political obstruction. Now is the time for the city to focus on progress and a stable European future," the statement concludes.
