Montenegro, as a leader in the process of accession to the European Union (EU), is a strong promoter of the agenda of human rights, democracy and media freedom in all multilateral forums, said Minister of Foreign Affairs Ervin Ibrahimović.
As announced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), Ibrahimović participated in the session of the OSCE Ministerial Council, which was held in Vienna as part of the Finnish chairmanship.
In his address, Ibrahimović pointed out that, at a time when Europe and the world are facing increased security challenges, the role of multilateralism remains crucial for preserving the principles of international law and democratic values.
He stressed that continued unequivocal support for Ukraine is crucial for defending international law and the rules-based order, and welcomed diplomatic efforts towards establishing a comprehensive, just and sustainable peace.
Ibrahimović, as announced, particularly emphasized the importance of the Western Balkans for the stability of the wider region, given the growing security and political challenges in the OSCE region.
"We are committed to close cooperation with the OSCE and strengthening stability and resilience in the region, which represents one of our key foreign policy priorities," said Ibrahimović.
He emphasized that Montenegro, as a leader in the EU accession process, is a strong promoter of the agenda of human rights, democracy and media freedom in all multilateral forums.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that Ibrahimović, on the sidelines of the Council, had several bilateral meetings, including with Dutch Foreign Minister David van Wiel, Bulgarian Foreign Minister Georg Georgiev, Romanian Foreign Minister Oana-Silvia Coia, and OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities Christoph Kamp.
The focus of the talks, as they said, was on further improving cooperation, strengthening the role of the OSCE, as well as Montenegro's European integration.
"Ibrahimović will also participate in the meeting of foreign ministers of the Group of Friends of the Western Balkans and foreign ministers of the Western Balkan countries, at the invitation of Austrian Foreign Minister Beate Meinl Reisinger," the statement said.
