The Movement for Podgorica parliamentary club has submitted a proposal to amend the Decision on House Rules in Residential Buildings, as well as introducing a new obligation to obtain the consent of the Tenants' Assembly for conducting catering activities with a kitchen in residential buildings, Miloš Krstović, head of the Movement for Podgorica parliamentary club, announced today.

"This proposal was created as a direct response to a large number of initiatives and complaints from citizens that we have received in the past period. Citizens have clearly pointed out the increasing problems of noise in the evening and night hours, impaired hygiene, increased risk of fire and other negative consequences of the operation of certain catering facilities on the ground floors of residential buildings. Therefore, we considered it necessary to react and propose measures that will specifically and quickly improve the quality of life in urban areas," Krstović emphasized in a statement.

He added that by changing the curfew hours to the period from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m., they want to provide more peace and quiet during the hours when citizens need it most.

"At the same time, by introducing the obligation for catering facilities with a kitchen to obtain the consent of the Tenants' Assembly for a period of three years, we are strengthening the role of tenants and giving them the right to decide on activities that directly affect their daily lives and safety. This solution contributes to reducing noise, improving hygiene, increasing security in residential buildings and more responsible business operations of caterers. It protects citizens, gives them greater participation in creating local policies and introduces a balance between life in residential communities and business activities," said Krstović.

He said that their goal is clear: a more peaceful, safer and more orderly urban environment, in which the voice of citizens is heard and respected.

"We believe that these changes will bring visible improvements and represent an important step forward in solving problems that citizens have long pointed out," said Krstović.
