Investments in road and utility infrastructure, including the reconstruction of local roads and the improvement of the water supply network, are key directions for the development of Danilovgrad, Montenegrin President Jakov Milatović announced, adding that the municipality is becoming a destination for living and working.
At the ceremonial session of the Danilovgrad Municipal Assembly, on the occasion of the Municipality Day and Liberation Day, he assessed that the doubled municipal budget compared to previous years confirms that the work is being done seriously and in the interest of the citizens.
Milatović said that he sees Danilovgrad as a place that is no longer a stopover but a destination, emphasizing that the municipality has all the conditions to be a city where people come to live, work, and invest.
Speaking about agriculture, Milatović said that the revived Bjelopavlić Plain should become the backbone of the local economy, welcoming municipal subsidies for grain producers, beekeepers and livestock farmers and emphasizing that the Bjelopavlić and Katun villages are starting to breathe again. He also called Danilovgrad the city of books, recalling that the school in Orja Luka was among the first schools in Montenegro and emphasizing the importance of investing in kindergartens and schools.
Milatović highlighted tourism as a special opportunity, assessing that Danilovgrad has all the prerequisites to become a magnet for people and the heart of tourism in central Montenegro, thanks to its natural beauty, historical sites, and spiritual centers of Ostrog and Ždrebaonik.
"The development of Danilovgrad is the shared responsibility of all of us. I am glad that the local government has people who work for the people, not for positions. I am glad that we are together in the work action for the progress of Danilovgrad and I look forward to our meeting again next year, in an even better Danilovgrad, in a municipality that knows where it is going and how it will get there," said Milatović.
He said that Danilovgrad has always chosen the side of freedom throughout history. He recalled that the First Boka and Tenth Herzegovina Brigades liberated Danilovgrad on December 9, 1944, thus completing the freedom epic of the Bjelovac region on the foundations of the Martinić Victory in 1796.
"Our generation today is fighting for development, work and a good life. We do not live off greeting cards, but we live off work and a strong economy, from empowered farmers and competitive entrepreneurs," Milatović assessed.
