Montenegro enjoys the full and strong support of the United States of America (USA), said US Senator Tom Tillis during a meeting with representatives of the Bosniak Party, Deputy Speaker of the Parliament Mirsad Nurković and MP Amer Smailović, who are on an official visit to Washington at the invitation of Congressman Robert Pittenger, Chairman of the Parliamentary Intelligence and Security Forum.
During the Forum program, Nurković and Smailović spoke with Senator Tillis, the Bosniak Party (BS) announced.
The talks, as stated by the BS, included deepening the strategic partnership and strengthening security cooperation, with special emphasis on the expected intensification of economic cooperation between the two countries, especially in light of Montenegro's imminent accession as a full member of the European Union.
"Also, within the Forum, opinions were exchanged with Congressman Pittenger, confirming the importance of joint action in the area of security and stability," the statement said.
BS said that during their stay in the US, Nurković and Smailović met with the Speaker of the Parliament of Malta and MPs from Romania, Albania, Ukraine, Lithuania and other countries, and that friendly relations between the countries were confirmed and further emphasized.
"The visit to the USA was also used for a meeting at the Embassy of Montenegro in Washington, where they learned about the work and activities of the embassy and Ambassador Jovan Mirković on further strengthening ties and cooperation between Montenegro and the USA," the statement said.
