Montenegro now needs strong support and understanding from the members of the European Union (EU), as the country has been achieving historic results in the last two years that make it a candidate for the first future member of the Union.
This was announced at a meeting between the Speaker of the Parliament, Andrija Mandić, and the Ambassador of Sweden to Montenegro, Charlotte Samelin.
Mandić, as announced by the Parliament, said that Montenegro views Sweden as a sincere friend.
It is stated that, speaking about Mandić's official visit to Sweden at the end of last year at the invitation of the Speaker of the Swedish Parliament, Andreas Norlen, the interlocutors assessed that in today's times, such visits are the key to strengthening bilateral cooperation.
"Commenting on current events related to the European integration process of our country, it was noted that now, more than ever, Montenegro needs strong support and understanding from member states, because our country has been achieving historic results in the last two years that make us a candidate for the first future EU member state," the statement said.
