Ambassador of Montenegro Marija Lakić Barfus, based in Switzerland, presented her letters of credence to Prince Alois of Liechtenstein, thus officially assuming the duties of Ambassador of Montenegro to that principality.
"During the conversation, Prince Alois expressed satisfaction with the excellent political relations between the two countries, and highlighted Liechtenstein's interest in further strengthening cooperation in the areas of economy, banking, culture and multilateral initiatives," the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced.
The Ambassador informed her interlocutor about the current phase of Montenegro's European integration process and expectations for further progress, while Prince Alois, as announced, confirmed Liechtenstein's full support for Montenegro's European perspective.
During the talks, the importance of the imminent entry into force of the Agreement on the Elimination of Double Taxation between Montenegro and Liechtenstein, signed on the sidelines of this year's United Nations General Assembly in New York, was particularly emphasized. Both sides expressed their commitment to completing the remaining internal procedures for the full implementation of the agreement.
"During the visit, the ambassador also met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Culture and Environmental Protection, Sabina Monauni, who expressed satisfaction with the development of bilateral relations and interest in improving cooperation in the areas of innovation, international law and sustainable development. The possibilities of a more intensive partnership within EFTA, as well as cooperation on economic and investment projects, were also discussed," the statement reads.
