Representatives of the ruling majority did not vote for the Parliament to discuss the Proposal for Amendments to the Law on Salaries in the Public Sector, which was prepared by the DPS Parliamentary Group with the aim of increasing the salaries of nurses and technicians by about 25 percent, the political party announced.
"With this proposal, we requested that the salaries of nurses and technicians with secondary education be increased from 616 euros to 765 euros. An increase is also planned for other groups, depending on the level of education. However, the parliamentary majority made it impossible to even discuss a specific legal solution, which was written with one sole motive - to improve the position of nursing staff, who bear the greatest burden in the Montenegrin healthcare system," the DPS statement said.
It is added that the parliamentary majority has confirmed in this way that it only declaratively values the work of nurses and technicians, and that its discussions about how important they are to the healthcare system are reduced to empty political talk.
"It is clear that they rejected this proposal solely because it comes from the Democratic Party of Socialists' Club of Deputies, and it is obvious that they are trying to score cheap political points based on the story of how salaries will be increased through the Branch Collective Agreement, although incentives will be abolished at the same time, so that everything comes to the same. It is clear to everyone that the economic policy of the ruling PES is based on tricks by which they dispute that middle-level medical staff deserve higher salaries. We are saying that we are not giving up on the initiative for middle-level medical staff to get what they deserve, and we inform the public that we will resubmit our proposal to the parliamentary procedure," the statement concludes.
