Representatives of the Civic Movement URA called on the parties of the parliamentary majority to jointly correct the decades-long injustices committed against the workers of the Nikšić Steel Plant, as well as all other state-owned enterprises that went bankrupt.
The head of the Civic Movement URA parliamentary group, Miloš Konatar, said at a meeting with a group of former workers of the Steel Plant that they will continue to fight for compensation for workers and the correction of decades-old injustices.
Konatar and political director of GP URA, Dušan Golović, spoke in Nikšić with a group of former workers of the Steel Plant about the Bill on Compensation of Former Workers of State-Owned Enterprises That Went Bankrupt, which was proposed by URE MPs in the Parliament.
Former workers of the Steel Plant spoke at the meeting about the problems they have faced for years, emphasizing in particular that, although they were part of the metal industry sector, they have not been financially compensated under the 2021 law, which provides for severance pay for former workers in the metal and mining industries.
Konatar stated that the URA fulfilled the promise made to former employees of state-owned enterprises that went bankrupt and proposed a law that corrects decades of injustice towards them.
"So, in addition to the metal, mining, wood processing and forestry industries, it is now time to compensate former employees from all other sectors of former state-owned enterprises, as well as those who have not yet been financially compensated from the metal industry, such as the workers of the Steel Plant," said Konatar.
