The President of the Municipality of Pljevlja, Dario Vranes, reacted sharply to the statement of the Minister of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Northern Development, Damjan Ćulafić, which the minister gave to the MINA agency, and which was published on the "Vijesti" portal.

Vraneš accused the minister of, as he stated, continuous manipulations and an attempt to shift responsibility for problems in the operation of the city boiler house onto the local government and the management of DOO "Grijanje".

"Ćulafić is a classic manipulator," said Vraneš, recalling that the Municipality of Pljevlja and DOO "Grijanje" never received the urban planning and technical conditions (UTU) for the installation of bag filters, even though they requested them properly and on time.

He pointed out that the minister has been falsely promising for days that he will come to Pljevlja and talk to citizens, while at the same time, at temperatures of minus 15 degrees, more than 400 apartments are facing heating outages.

"Just as he falsely promises that he will muster up the courage to come among the citizens of Pljevlja and explain to them why at -15 degrees Celsius, over 400 apartments remain without heating, Minister Ćulafić is ineptly manipulating that the director of DOO Grijanje and the mayor of the municipality are to blame for the boiler room shutdown," Vraneš said in his reaction.

According to Vraneš, the director of DOO "Grijanje" requested the UTU conditions for the installation of bag filters, but they were not issued because the state has not resolved the issue of a location for storing hazardous waste that would be generated by their use. Therefore, he says, the company installed multicyclones and fans as an alternative solution, with the aim of reducing pollution.

Vraneš believes that the minister, as he put it, "from the Podgorica chair", does not show real concern for Pljevlja and its citizens, and that the current situation is the result of systemic negligence of state authorities. He added that citizens have recognized this, so instead of an institutional solution, today, symbolically, "instead of a stamp on the boiler room, there was a stamp on the inspection by citizens".

The reaction of the Mayor of the Municipality followed after Minister Ćulafić, in his statement, linked the problem of the boiler room's downtime to the responsibility of the local government and the management of DOO "Grijanje", which Vraneš assessed as incorrect and tendentious.
